At the invitation of the Chair of Old Testament and Eastern Christianity and the Centre for Patristic Research (CPO), two leading scholars of the French Institut des Sources Chrétiennes will visit Leiden. On 1 March they will present the Biblindex project, which makes biblical references in Christian literature accessible online, and discuss developments in the Sources Chrétiennes series, one of the most important series of editions and translations of patristic texts.

15.00 Dominique Gonnet,"Challenges to the Sources Chrétiennes Series in the 21st Century"
The lecture will discuss challenges to the Sources Chrétiennes series in the 21st Century. A chronological approach will be followed, starting from the history of the foundation of the series by Jesuits. Then a presentation will be given of the team and its resources, especially institutional partners like CNRS and the projects on different Fathers of the Church. Who are the collaborators? What is the path for a book to be published? Which kind of challenges are to be met in the future? Dominique Gonnet, s.j., born in 1950, graduated in classical philology (CAPES) and theology (Doctorate), and joined the Society of Jesus in 1973. He works as a researcher at the Institut des Sources Chrétiennes (Lyon) since 1992. His main fields of investigation are Syriac and Athanasius. He is in charge of the Association des Amis de Sources Chrétiennes since 2007.
16.00 Laurence Mellerin,"Biblindex, Online Index of Biblical Quotations in Early Christian Literature"
Biblindex, a project led by the French Institut des Sources Chrétiennes with the support of the Peshitta Institute of Leiden University and the Institut für neutestamentliche Forschung in Münster, aims at the constitution of an online index of biblical references to be found in Jewish and Christian literature, as well as in Western and Eastern texts of Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages, in order to renew the study of the interpretation and history of biblical texts. This lecture presents the project's genesis and its development prospects in the forthcoming years.
Laurence Mellerin, born in 1973, graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris) in classical philology and history of Early Christianity. She works as a full-tenured researcher at the Institut des Sources Chrétiennes (Lyon) since 2003. Her main field of investigation is the Bible of Cistercian authors, especially Bernard of Clairvaux. She has been in charge of the Biblindex project since 2006.
